Tag Management

Tags and tag groups allow you to select groups of systems and simplify the creation of tasks and queries. Some uses of tags are:
Automatic placement in System Tree groups
System Identification
Unique update and scan tasks for specific groups
Extra monitoring oversight and extra attention
Custom policies for specific systems/groups
Inclusion of selected system information in reports
The Tag Catalog is accessed from the Menu page (Menu > Systems > Tag Catalog). The page has two basic parts: Tag Group Tree and Tags.
Tag Group Tree (left pane): Displays tags grouped by a hierarchical tree of groups and subgroups.
Tags (right pane): Tags help you identify and sort systems. The tag list displays the tags available for use. There typically are default Server and Workstation tags.
Use this page to view summary information for any tag, begin creating or editing tags, and run sorting criteria.
Click on the information (i) icons for further information.
To create or edit tags, or to apply, exclude and clear tags, you must have the appropriate permissions selected in the Systems Permission Set. Administrators have these rights by default, but other administrative users may need these permissions enabled on the Permission Sets page (Menu > User Management > Permission Sets).
Since the Tag Builder accesses the Criteria definition page for a tag regardless if you use it, you will need to give anyone who will be creating tags the ability to use tag criteria, as displayed in this slide, as well as access to the Create and edit private queries set within the permission set.
The ePO administrator can also restrict usage of tags to available Permission Sets. This can be handy for administrators to help identify & sort systems accordingly in their environments.
By default, Tags are set to “Do not restrict by Permission Sets”.
To access & configure Tag Permissions, open the Tag Catalog, click on the desired Tag, and expand the Restrictions entry under the Tag Details section.

Using the Tag Actions in the System Tree, you can manually apply tags to systems, clear tags from systems, and exclude system from automatic tagging.
Apply Tag: Allows you to manually apply tags to systems
Clear Tag: Allows you to manually clear tags applied to systems
Exclude Tag: Allows you to exclude systems from having specific tags applied. Alternatively, you can use a query to collect systems, then, from the query results, you can exclude those tags from those systems.
