The Application Server (Tomcat Service) provides the most tangible services of the ePO core components.
· It provides the front end of the console’s user interface for management tasks and standardized database interface and handles application features, such as System Tree organization, user management, policy management, dashboards, and more.
· It runs the Notification System and supports the interactions between endpoints and ePO through extensions. Extensions are special software files that are supplied in a zipped format and are installed on the ePO server. They contain static files necessary for ePO to manage other endpoint security products. Examples: Endpoint Security (ENS) and Rogue Detection System (RSD).
· In addition, registered server types are added using extensions. Once the registered server types are added, users can register their servers with another ePO server for multi-server functions, such as shared policies.
